I fished the chain hard 8/28 - 8/31/04, but the walleyes were just not on the night bite I was expecting! I started each night fishing for muskie from 7 - 9pm. I boated a 34" Musky Sunday night and a 40 1/2 incher 8/30. Both fish were caught between sunset and moon rise - which were within 1/2 hour of each other both nights! The 40 1/2" was right at moon rise I believe. You will see this is something that pays off often for me. Paying attention to moon phase and rise and set of the moon, a major trigger!
As for the Walleyes..... I have had some HUGE catches of 20" plus fish past years on this pattern. NOT THIS TIME!!! I caught three Walleyes in 3 days! And I fished until 3:30am one night!
Of course I did fish more for Muskie but all in all a tough few days.
